Dear friends of Área Costa del Sol:
Our Holy Week is approaching. Days full of fervor and feeling for many of our neighbors, which in addition to a religious event, are one of our most deeply rooted samples of popular expression.
The brotherhoods are an essential part of Fuengirola. They are guarantors of our customs, they promote and maintain traditional crafts and, in addition, they carry out important social work in all neighborhoods.
In spite of the fact that the majority of our four brotherhoods of Passion are of recent foundation, the popular support and the growth of our Semana Mayor is remarkable. The corporations are increasing their brotherhood heritage in the street and devotion to the images is growing. So it is becoming one of the most important in the province.
If you don’t know it yet, I take this opportunity to invite you to get to know it. From the participative and youthful Palm Sunday, in the neighborhood of El Boquetillo, to the exciting Easter Sunday, in which all the brotherhoods of Passion and Glory show their union in the same procession.
I hope you live these days with the intensity they deserve and that you do it in Fuengirola.
